Action Alert to CWC Members:  The Time to Act on SRF Cuts is NOW!

The House will consider H.R. 2822, the Interior and Environment Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2016, tomorrow! NOW is the time for you to contact your Representatives telling them to OPPOSE cuts to the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) program contained in the House and Senate appropriations bills. As we have reported over the last few weeks, these bills drastically cut SRF funding levels (the House cuts $579 million and the Senate cuts $554 million, amounting to an approximately 25% reduction in SRF appropriations from last year) and they MUST be stopped! SRFs represent the biggest and most important federal government program supporting desperately needed water infrastructure and we simply cannot afford to see them decline. Rep. Jerry McNerney (CA-9) has introduced an amendment that would increase the proposed appropriations level for SRFs by $861 million, a 12% increase from last year. Send a letter or call your Representative’s office TODAY and tell them to oppose these cuts and support Congressman McNerney’s amendment!  Access a sample letter here.  And visit www.house.gov and www.senate.gov for contact information for your Member.
